Etape 7 - Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
by Mike K-H

Richard Dobbie's site is more pictorial than Freebooters, but it has given me ideas.

travelsnapz.com is a travel photographer's site with text that sets the mood and makes you want to get on the next plane (and then take a bus or a car and even do a bit of footslogging) to see for yourself the places Richard has photographed.

I enjoy creating photo-essays, and Keith Kellett often makes his own generous contributions, so Freebooters will soon be featuring more of them.

Richard's site also has a Guest Book provided by Freebok.net . I have shamelessly followed his example, so now you can follow the links in the margin of the Freebooters home page to view or contribute to our own Freebooters Guest Book.

This would be a good place to make constructive criticisms and suggestions as well as telling me about things you enjoyed. Here are a few suggested topics:

- colour scheme and page layout

- navigation

- types of articles

- links to useful information

I'm sure you can think of others. I'd like Freebooters regulars to become a community, each member contributing ideas - even if I am the drudge who has to carry out most of them. Just don't bully me, or I'll take my toys away with me and play somewhere else.

Latest news from George

George East has moved. Yesterday he told me proudly that he and Donella had already unpacked 10 cartons of household goods. I asked how Donella's chickens felt about the move:

They now have a mansion. There is a well-protected run of around twenty feet into which I have put some perches, and then holes lead through the wall to an old loose box which we have dressed up for them. They love it.

George, however, admits to a touch of homesickness for the place that started it all - the Moulin de la Puce. I'm sure he'll get over it once he starts writing the next two books, and finds he no longer needs to wear mitts to stop his hands from freezing rigid in the winter.
